A Bix Manor wedding  is  sure to be stunning as it’s a beautiful venue and even better a stones throw from when I live in Benson so I always love photographing weddings there. Claire and Joe live in my village and came to see me last year about photographing their wedding ceremony at Dorchester Abbey and then their wedding reception at Bix Manor. The Great Tithe Barn at Bix Manor is  a beautiful stylish 17th century brick & flint former barn and feels really lovely and cosy inside whether it is summer or winter. The fact Claire and Joe live in the same village as me meant that the preparation shots couldn’t have been closer for me, literally I could have walked 20 yards to the end of my lane and cut through a back alley to the brides house, now that’s what I mean by a local wedding!. Dorchester Abbey is in one of the villages close by (the village of Dorchester-on-Thames would you believe!) and the Abbey is one of the famous landmarks around. The building we now see was begun in the 12th century, replacing two earlier Saxon cathedrals on the site so it’s nearly 1400 years old. I have wanted to photograph a wedding at Dorchester Abbey since I moved to the area in 2007 and so was really looking forward to shooting the particular wedding. Claire looked totally beautiful in a  lace and organza bridal gown and the sun shone for them on a perfect spring day on 6th April. The transport to and from the church and reception for Joe and Claire was courtesy of a totally beautiful ultra rare vintage Aston Martin convertible. It was a significantly warmer days than the other lovely Bix Manor wedding I photographed there in December!
