From the idyllic village church ceremony to the grand stately home wedding reception, Beverly and Matthew’s late-September Hertfordshire Brocket Hall Wedding was the quintessential English countryside wedding. Romantic, timeless and effortlessly sophisticated, it was a perfect day for a fantastic couple. I’m so glad I was able to be a part of it.

Getting ready at Brocket Hall
Both Beverly and Matthew had their own suites at Brocket Hall – their super-stylish stately home wedding venue – to get ready the morning of the big day. Having the bride and groom in the same place before the wedding doesn’t happen that often, but it was an absolute treat for me as I could spend time with both Beverly and Matthew as they prepared for the ceremony.

Beverly was surrounded by her bridesmaids as they all got ready together – complete with matching robes, of course. Also, can we take a moment for the incredible natural light that poured into the suite? A total dream for a photographer!

The beautiful church ceremony
Beverly and Matthew chose to have their wedding ceremony at nearby St Mary’s Ashwell church. It’s a picturesque, historic village church with some parts dating all the way back to the 14th century. The couple laid on vintage red London buses to take their guests from Brocket Hall to the church and back – such a nice touch and I got some cool photos of the double-decker parked up outside the venue and the church.

The church was decorated with bright floral displays at the entrance and along the pews, and guests took their seats to the sounds of organ music.

Beverly arrived at the church in a classic Rolls Royce before the couple exchanged their vows in a romantic ceremony under the church’s ancient, vaulted ceiling.

As they left the church as Mr and Mrs, the couple were covered with dried petals – how fantastic are these confetti toss photos? I love the absolute joy on both Beverly and Matthew’s faces.

The Hertfordshire stately home wedding venue
Brocket Hall is one of those wedding venues with instant wow factor. It’s a grand stately home surrounded by over 500 acres of picture-perfect Hertfordshire countryside and truly was the ideal setting for Beverly and Matthew’s chic big day.

As well as spectacular grounds, Brocket Hall has the most incredible antique interiors. The walls are hung with old family portraits, dazzling chandeliers light the rooms and huge marble fireplaces create a sense of grandeur. It’s not hard to see why our bride and groom fell in love with the place.

Beverly’s elegant bridal style
A luxe stately home wedding means you get to go all out with your wedding dress. Beverly looked absolutely gorgeous in her ballgown-style wedding dress. With delicate off-the-shoulder sleeves, floral applique and a full A-line skirt, it really nailed that modern fairytale princess aesthetic. The train brought a touch of drama to her look – I adore how it looks in photos.

Beverly paired her gown with an elegant up-do, pearl drop earrings and a flowing tulle veil. Her handtied bouquet finished off her classic look perfectly.

I love how our bride switched things up for the evening party, changing into a heavily embellished slip dress and letting her hair down to dance the night away with her guests.

A dusky pink wedding colour scheme
A venue as opulent as Brocket Hall doesn’t need much in the way of wedding décor. Beverly and Matthew chose to add some colour and personality to their day with the most magnificent floral displays. Vibrant blooms in shades of dusky pink, hot pink, lilac and purple lined the staircase, while smaller displays sat in the centre of each wedding reception table.

Dusky pink was the main colour scheme for the day, with the bridesmaids’ pleated column dresses in the soft shade. The couple’s four-tier wedding cake was also decorated with dusky pink roses, and a sumptuous touch of gold leafing.

The couple photographs at Brocket Hall
As their guests enjoyed a glass of champagne, I headed out with Beverly and Matthew for their couple shots. The extensive grounds are something else – think rolling countryside, idyllic parkland, ancient woodland and rivers. The September weather played ball, and we were able to really make the most of the outdoor space, capturing some gorgeous images together.
