With so many amazing wedding images entered by UK and overseas photographers every month in the Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers (SWPP) image competition, I always am very honoured when one of my wedding photojournalism photography images gets selected for a Highly Commended award. This month is extra special to me as the category is Wedding Photojournalism Photography which is the documentary style of photography I specialse in. Sometimes when you press the shutter you know instantly it’s going to be a very special image and that’s how it was with this image. Taken at a rainy wedding back in May for a lovely couple who got married at a church in Hampton in Surrey then held their reception at Great Fosters it was the little flowergirls with their placards that caught my attention. When the little one at the front marched down the aisle holding the placard saying “Uncle Adam here comes your bride!” it was a very special moment indeed. I lover the fact that behind the flowergirls out of focus in the distance the bride and her father can clearly be seen as can the shape of the groom from the front giving the image a context. Although shot in colour I know this was going to end up as a black and white image and here it is in all it’s photojournalist wedding photographer glory. I really hope you like it, if you do please perhaps you’d like to leave a comment at the end?
