The lovely Summer wedding of Christie and Geoff at St Barnabus Church and Rhodes House Oxford

Christie and Geoff met in Oxford where Christie had started her career as a doctor and Geoff was doing a PhD. The proposal came as a surprise to Christie during a trip to Las Vegas. Geoff proposed on Bryce Canyon in Utah and it took him most of the day to get down on one knee as the area had been very busy. Thankfully he was rewarded with a yes! Although Christie had been a student at Cambridge university, the couple decided they wanted the wedding to be held in Oxford where they first met. Rhodes House Summer Wedding

Rhodes House Summer wedding venue, Oxford

Rhodes House, which is part of the University of Oxford, is based in the heart of the city and was the obvious choice of summer wedding venue for the couple since Geoff, who’s homeland is Australia was studying on a Rhodes Scholarship. The venue is historical with it’s dramatic bay windows and beamed ceilings and also boasts award winning gardens.

Wedding day preparations

Christie and her five bridesmaids enjoyed a lovely relaxed morning together sipping champagne whilst I captured these very special moments. Hair and make up was beautifully done by Clare Turner and the lovely bouquets were provided by Flowers by Kirsty. Christie wore a beautiful gown by Maggie Sottero complimented with a cathedral length veil.

Geoff and his groomsmen got ready at Rhodes House where my friend and fabulous second shooter Andy Holdsworth took some great shots of them. Of course, boys will be boys and there had to be a stop off at the Old Bookbinders on the way to the church!

The Wedding Ceremony at St Barnabus Church Jericho

Christie and Geoff decided on a traditional church service at St Barnabus before the reception at Rhodes House. Christie and her dad arrived at the church in a 19.30’s style Imperial Landaulette vintage car which was hired from The Oxford Limo Company. After the lovely ceremony the heavens decided to open just as the confetti was being thrown! Thankfully this was taken in good part by bride and groom and the guests and led to some fun moments for us to capture.

Pictures in Oxford city and Rhodes House

The city of Oxford is an important place for bride and groom, so we took time just with the couple to take some wonderful shots of them both at some iconic historical landmarks including The Radcliffe Camera and the Bridge of Sighs before returning to Rhodes House.

The Rhodes House wedding party

Bride and groom had added lots of personal touches to their venue to represent Geoff growing up in Mildura, Australia and Christie growing up in Aberdeen Scotland. Christie and Geoff and their friends and family gathered in the McCall MacBain Hall for a wonderful meal provided by Oxford Fine Dining. After the lovely cake, provided by Wealden House Kitchen was cut, it was time for evening entertainment by fabulous band The Kicks. Safe to say the dance floor never emptied the whole evening! Such a wonderful day captured for this lovely relaxed couple at this Rhodes House Summer Wedding.
