St Hugh’s College Wedding Photos | Oxford Photographer | Gene & Fabian

Capturing these St Hugh’s College wedding photos reminds what a delight it is to be based near the dreaming spires of Oxford. Gene and Fabian were such a lovely couple, who’s humour and love for each other really did shine on the day; despite the slightly drizzly weather.

The Couple

Gene and Fabian are both maths graduates, very impressive I know. If that wasn’t enough, Gene only moved to the UK a few years ago, having only being taught a little bit of English at school (which must have been pretty daunting). She speaks great English now coupled with a wicked sense of humour to keep Fabian on his toes, and is now a maths teacher in a local school teaching 11-18 year olds (rather her than me!) and Fabian is studying in Oxford for his PhD in guess what……….Maths.

The Ceremony

Held on the lawn in the centre of this historic college, the ceremony was filled with prayers, songs and readings by friends and family, the vicar from their local church came to do a full service and the atmosphere was light and cheerful. The groom’s brother played violin as Gene walked down the aisle and guests were given poppers and confetti to set off as they led the way out of the marquee.

The Reception

A classical guitar recital started off the evening reception, held in one of the stunning rooms steeped with history at St Hugh’s, before an evening filled with food, speeches and dancing. The best man produced a cracking speech, exposing the grooms obsession with soy sauce; apparently he puts it on everything he ever orders, I’m not going to lie, not sure it would work with a roast dinner!

The bride wore a full lace fit and flare gown (that’s right, I know the lingo, being married to the illustrious Ellie Sanderson, some things do rub off!) and the groomsmen looked very dapper in their tuxedos. The spring flowers in the St Hugh’s gardens created a beautiful backdrop for some shots of the couple, and the weather stayed mostly fine with just a fine mist of rain.

Should I have a pre-wedding shoot?

On the fence about booking a pre-wedding or engagement shoot? I’ve met so many couples who tell me how much they hate having their photos taken, how uncomfortable they feel in front of the camera, and how they’re never happy with how they look in photos. And I get it...
