Charlie and Adam’s May wedding at one of my favourite Cotswold venues, Cripps Barn, brought all the English Country garden vibes. The day was filled with glorious sunshine, stunning hot pink reception styling and a bride and groom who couldn’t stop smiling. What a joy to photograph! Let’s relive that awesome day…
The romantic Cotswold barn wedding venue
Nowhere does rustic chic quite like Cripps Barn. Tucked away in the most unbelievably idyllic corner of the Cotswolds, this Gloucestershire barn venue has to be one of my favourites. With original flagstone floors, wooden beams and honey-coloured Cotswold stone walls, this 18th-century barn is a dream to photograph inside. And the grounds are just as spectacular, with rolling Cotswold countryside as far as the eye can see. It looked absolutely perfect in the gorgeous May sunshine for Charlie and Adam’s Cripps Barn wedding.
Charlie’s classic-with-a-modern-twist bridal style
How incredible does our bride Charlie look in her Kashi by Ronald Joyce wedding dress? I love the chic halterneck and ballgown skirt, which was a modern take on classic princess style. Wearing her hair in a chic up-do with a simple tulle veil, Charlie let this statement neckline do the talking. I love Charlie’s oversized bridal bouquet in a kaleidoscope of pinks and lilac – it brings such a romantic feel to her big day look.
Naturally, our groom Adam dressed for the laid-back luxury of a Cripps Barn wedding, in a cream double-breasted suit, paired with a white shirt and soft pink tie. Such a cool, sunny-day look. And, of course, the bridesmaids looked amazing in soft sage green silk dresses in mix and match styles.
The beautiful Cripps Barn ceremony
The restored barn is such an atmospheric setting for a wedding ceremony, and the sun poured through the windows for Charlie and Adam, filling the space with a gorgeous warm glow. Dressed with beautiful in-season blooms in a soft mix of pastel shades, Cripps Barn looked magical.
Led by the cutest flower girls, Charlie made her way up the aisle to Adam as Nero Strings played A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay. I don’t think our couple stopped grinning the whole ceremony, as they exchanged their vows in front of family and friends.
As they left the barn as newlyweds, I was able to get some sweet photos of Charlie and Adam as they were covered in rose petal confetti.
Hot pink reception styling inspiration
The beauty of Cripps Barn is that the interiors really speak for themselves. I love how Charlie and Adam kept their reception décor simple, allowing the natural beauty of the barn to shine. The hot pink colour scheme feels fresh and modern, adding a touch of cool to the uncovered wooden tables. Floral displays of sweet peas, roses, peonies and stocks in coral, pink and lilac, brought a vibrant splash of colour, while pale pink candles in antique candlesticks helped create a cosy vibe. I like how our bride and groom included personalised notes and photos at each table setting – such a thoughtful touch.
Unique wedding day touches
Music is hugely important to Charlie and Adam, who named their wedding tables after their favourite bands. The hot pink seating plan was adorned with illustrations of disco balls, while each table featured a photo of the couple at various music concerts over the years. Also, I think this has to be the best Order of the Day sign I’ve ever seen. “ We do. We drink. We eat. We party.” Simple and straight to the point!
The bride and groom opted for a three-tiered white cake with ruffle edging, dressed with fresh flowers. The cake topper was a genius idea, featuring two on-the-day Polaroids of Charlie and Adam, facing each other for a puckered-up kiss.
This couple like to party and filled their wedding with cool touches to get everyone on the dance floor. There was a basket of flip flops for tired feet, his and her’s cocktails, heart-shaped sunglasses for all and loads of live music. Even Adam got involved and joined in playing the saxophone.
Beautiful couple photographs at Cripps Barns
As a wedding photographer, Cripps Barn is a dream come true. There’s so much outdoor space for stunning bride and groom photographs and we definitely made the most of it. I started with some cute couple photographs in the garden, before exploring the grounds. I can’t get enough of these beautiful photographs in the meadow, cornfields and woodland. We lucked out with the weather too, which I was delighted about!
