On the fence about booking a pre-wedding or engagement shoot? I’ve met so many couples who tell me how much they hate having their photos taken, how uncomfortable they feel in front of the camera, and how they’re never happy with how they look in photos. And I get it – posing in front of a camera can make you feel self-conscious. But I promise it doesn’t have to be that way! And that’s exactly why I’d suggest booking an engagement or pre-wedding shoot in Oxfordshire with me.

So what actually is a pre-wedding shoot?
A pre-wedding shoot or engagement shoot is when couples get together with their wedding photographer ahead of the big day to take some photos. Essentially it’s a ‘test run’ before your wedding. It’s the perfect opportunity to get to know your photographer before your wedding (you’ll have a lot going on that day!). Here you can shake off any awkwardness and start to feel more relaxed in front of the camera.

Why you should book a pre-wedding shoot
It’s a brilliant chance for me to learn about you as a couple, while helping you to feel comfortable while I snap away. Even if you start off feeling embarrassed, I guarantee that by the end of the shoot you’ll be completely relaxed – and I promise it will be fun too! And the best bit? You’ll get to leave with some beautiful photos that capture such an exciting moment in time, in that fantastic engagement bubble. You can choose to have these made into an album or order individual photos. You can even use some of the shots for your wedding guest book or newspaper-style order of the day.

Where does the pre-wedding shoot take place?
While I’m happy to be flexible with locations, many of my pre-wedding shoots take place in the countryside near my studio in Kings Sutton – about 4 miles from Banbury, Oxfordshire. The reason so many couples travel here for their shoot is because it’s ridiculously pretty! We’re spoilt for choice with idyllic countryside settings – plus Kings Sutton is really easy to get to, with a mainline train service to and from London. Oh, and the village has an excellent gastro pub, The White Horse, so you can properly make a day of it.

What do I need to bring to my Oxfordshire pre-wedding shoot?
You don’t need to bring anything, although some couples like to have an outfit change, to mix up the photos a bit. After I’ve shot some photos of you outdoors, we’ll head to my studio to finish off with some studio portraits – so you’ve got the best of both worlds. Want to find out more? Asian pre-wedding shoots and portraits in Oxford
Over the years it’s been such a pleasure to be asked by many Chinese and Asian couples to do their pre-wedding shoots in the historic city of Oxford. Whether you plan on getting married overseas and would like some unforgettable engagement portraits taken in the most memorable of settings, or you’ve studied at Oxford University and want to have the city as part of your pre-wedding shoot, I’d love to help.

What you need to know about my Oxford pre-wedding shoots
I’ve photographed hundreds of weddings in Oxford and know the city inside out. I know all the main sights that make the most stunning backdrops to your pre-wedding shoot photos. The Oxford architecture is out of this world – intricate and awe-inspiring, there’s nothing quite like it. During your Oxford engagement shoot we can capture incredible photos at the following famous locations:
- Bodleian Libraries
- Broad Street
- Bridge of Sighs (Hertford Bridge)
- Brasenose Lane
- Radcliffe Camera
- Ashmolean Museum
- Christ Church Meadow
- Oxford University Parks
- Sheldonian Theatre

If there are places that have a special meaning to you as a couple, let me know and I’ll try and work the location into your Oxford pre-wedding shoot. These unique photography sessions start at 7am – it’s important to hold these first thing in the morning so we can get the shots before the tourists arrive.
You’re also encouraged to bring a couple of outfit changes – many of my Chinese and Asian couples choose to bring their wedding dress and suit to change into for some photos. If you’re interested in finding out more about booking an Asian pre-wedding shoot in Oxford, click here to get in touch.
