Katie and Mike met when they were both students at the university of Reading. Mike proposed to Katie in their boat during a picnic trip to a bay off the Isle of Wight. It was an emotional moment for Katie who had to be reminded to say yes! Katie and Michael’s beautiful wedding at Hedsor House was a day full of love and so many personal touches. Although the wedding was traditional in some ways, with the service being held in the local St Nicholas church, the couple were set on having a fun and relaxed day, starting with a Mexican Mariachi band to walk guests from the church to the wedding reception! Hedsor House Autumn Wedding Venue, Buckinghamshire

As Mansion Houses go Hedsor House is pretty special. Located in Buckinghamshire and perched overlooking the River Thames it is a dream venue. Set in over 100 acres of parkland this stunning Georgian mansion is the perfect place for a wonderful, relaxed wedding day with so many opportunities for fabulous photographs. I worked alongside my good friend Mark Shipperley on the day who was an excellent choice of videographer.

Preparations for the big day ahead

Katie got ready at Hedsor House in the dressing room and enjoyed a fun filled wedding morning with her bridesmaids and parents providing me with so many opportunities to take some lovely pictures. Katie looked stunning in a gorgeous gown from Pure Couture by Martina Liana. Katie and her bridesmaids had their hair expertly styled by Richard and Matt from Daniel Galvin and makeup was beautifully done by Nicola Hood MUA. Bouquets by Lavender Green completed the look for this stylish bridal party.

Mike and the guys got ready at Hedsor House in the Dustin suite. I have to say, that although I always enjoy time with the bridal party on the morning of the wedding as there is so much excitement, fun and laughs, on this occasion I had a lot of fun with the guys too! They wanted pictures taken with the fantastic family vintage cars which were to play a big part later in the day. The addition of Katie and Mike’s black lab Ralph made this a very special Hedsor House Autumn wedding indeed.

The wedding ceremony at St Nicholas Church

Katie told me that cars were a huge passion in her family, so it was no wonder that her dad was excited to involve his cars on the day for wedding transportation! He drove Katie to the ceremony in a vintage V8 convertible and allowed Mike to drive his Sixties E-Type Jaguar to and from the church. The bridesmaids and pageboys arrived at church in a flower covered Series 2 Land Rover and Mike’s parents arrived in a Jaguar XJS. The cars added such a personal touch to the day for this family. Katie and Mike chose St Nicholas Church for their ceremony which is both near Katie’s parent’s home and Hedsor House because she wanted a friendly local feel to the wedding day. Katie and Mike own a gorgeous black lab called Ralph who wore a beautiful flower collar for the occasion. The plan had been for Ralph to walk down the aisle with Katie’s brother, but he was not impressed with the hard floor so chose to watch from the back!

While guests mingled and enjoyed entertainment from the band The Mexican Way, and a spot of magic from The Elegant Magician (Neil Edwards), I spent time with Katie and Mike creating some lovely moments with them in and around Hedsor House.

The Hedsor wedding party

Katie and Mike gathered with their guests in the Ballroom for their wonderful wedding breakfast provided by catering company Rhubarb. The fantastic wedding cake was provided by The Abigail Bloom Cake Company. Evening entertainment followed, provided by The London Function Band and Katie and Mike had their first dance to Michael Buble’s L-O-V-E. Such a wonderful, relaxed and personal wedding day for this lovely couple and their guests, which will provide them with so many happy memories for years to come.
