OXFORDSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

YOUR WEDDING DAY IS SPECIAL

BUT NOT AS SPECIAL AS YOU ARE

My signature wedding photography style blends documentary storytelling with fine art portraiture to create a collection of images that is both authentic and beautifully composed.

Your wedding day is filled with moments of genuine emotion, joy, and connection — and my role as your wedding photographer is to capture those moments with a timeless, natural elegance.

I am now actively recommended by many of the top wedding venues in the home counties, including Hedsor HouseCaswell HouseCliveden House HotelKirtlington ParkThe Ashmolean and The Crazy Bear as one of their preferred partner photographers. I am extremely proud of the fact they choose to trust and recommend me to their wedding couples.

HOW I WORK

Experience creates confidence.
After more than 550 weddings, very little on a wedding day surprises me. I’ve photographed intimate ceremonies with only a handful of people present, celebrations with 500–600 guests, multi-day Hindu and Sikh weddings, church ceremonies lit almost entirely by candlelight and outdoor ceremonies in brilliant summer sunshine.
That experience means I can adapt quickly without making the photography the centre of attention. I know when to step forward and offer guidance, and when the best thing I can do is quietly observe.
My approach combines documentary storytelling with elegant portraiture, allowing you to spend your wedding day with the people you love while I concentrate on preserving it.

I’ve photographed weddings of all sizes, from intimate ceremonies with only the couple, the registrar and myself present, with me acting as their witness, to 500-600 guests at extravagant Asian weddings running over several days – and everything in between.

I have lots of experience photographing non-religious, civil and celebrant ceremonies, traditional English church weddings, same sex weddings, Hindu weddings, Sikh weddings, Indian Muslim weddings, Mehndi ceremonies, Persian weddings, Chinese weddings, Malay weddings, Danish weddings and pretty much anything else you can think of.

YOUR WEDDING, YOUR WAY

YOUR INVESTMENT

My promise is to give you wedding photographs that will last a lifetime.

Photographs have a beautiful way of bringing us back to the most meaningful moments. Your wedding day is one of them. Choosing the right photographer is a deeply personal decision — not just for the style of the images, but for the experience they help create.

I believe you should feel completely at ease with your photographer. I’ll be there for much of your day — often from the excitement of getting ready to the joy of your first dance — and I aim to bring a calm, friendly presence that enhances your experience.

With over 18 years as a wedding photographer and holding three Fellowships from leading professional photography associations, I bring a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for storytelling. I photograph no more than 30 weddings each year so I can give each couple the care and attention they deserve — from our first meeting to the final edits and beautiful albums.

Of course you don’t. Posing doesn’t come naturally to anyone and actually doesn’t make for the best photographs.  I prefer a natural, sincere style of photography and am very good at bringing that out in others.

Yes. I photograph most weddings personally and usually work alone, but a second professional photographer can be added when it benefits the coverage. I particularly recommend this for very large weddings, multi-day celebrations, or when both partners are getting ready in separate locations.

Having photographed more than 550 weddings, I’m very comfortable covering a full wedding day independently. When a second photographer is useful, I work with a small group of trusted professional wedding photographers whose style and approach complement mine.

I normally recommend around six formal group photographs.
This gives you the important family photographs without turning a large part of your drinks reception into a photoshoot…

I’d go with:

  • Bride & groom with bride’s family
  • Bride & groom with groom’s family
  • Bridal party (you with your groomsmen, ushers, bridesmaids and flower girls)
  • Bride with her girls
  • Groom with his boys
  • One big group shot

I use the latest professional Canon mirrorless digital cameras and professional lenses designed to shoot to a very high quality even in low-light conditions. I also carry backups of EVERYTHING on a wedding day!

I don’t really subscribe to the old school philosophy that you are beholden to your photographer to purchase everything you want directly from them. I’m happy to provide you with a copy of the high res digital jpegs from your day after they have been edited (this is usually around 30 days after your wedding). You’ll also be sent a high quality USB with the files on it 4-5 weeks after the wedding.

Of course. Those digital files are yours to keep to do with as you see fit. There is, of course, quite a difference between a print you make at your local Boots and those that my professional lab can print for you. But it’s entirely up to you.

Absolutely! Have passport, will travel. Do just check my availability if your venue is particularly far away. Also, anything further than 60 miles away from OX17 3PH Kings Sutton in Northamptonshire I do ask for a 40p per mile contribution towards fuel.

Should an overnight stay or flight be involved I do ask that those are reimbursed as well, but such things are not actually as expensive as you might think so do ask.

I fundamentally believe that videography and stills photos require a very different approach from each other and are a different  shooting and editing skill/set.

I have now partnered with a wedding videographer I have worked with for many years and am now pleased to say that I can now offer a HYBRID Photography/Videography Collection with myself concentrating 100% on Photography and the other person concentrating 100% on Videography & audio.

Please get in touch for more details or view our Pricing page for more details

Yes, please. I will need some hot food at some point if it’s not too much trouble. Photography is hungry work, after all.

Of course, I’d be delighted to invite you to my studio in Kings Sutton nr Banbury OX17 3PH (conveniently close to J10 off the M40) to meet you and have a chat about your requirements. I tend to meet with clients in the week after work but I can accommodate daytime appointments as well if that suits you better.

Naturally, this being the age of technology, we can also meet via Zoom and you can book a Zoom call with me at a time to suit you HERE

Once you’ve confirmed that your date is available, booking is secured with a signed agreement and booking fee.

From there we’ll keep in touch throughout your planning, with unlimited pre-wedding consultations included in every collection. If you’d like to check availability first, send me your wedding date and venue and I’ll come straight back to you.

Drop me an email at david@davidbostockphotography.co.uk or give me a call on 07967 078172 (or +44 7967 078172 from outside the UK).
