Caswell House Wedding Venue | August Oxfordshire Wedding | Emily & Scott

Emily and Scott’s romantic Cotswold celebration at the idyllic Caswell House wedding venue, was a gloriously happy day packed with personal touches, and a very cool couple!

The Caswell House wedding venue

Caswell House is just one of those venues that absolutely nails the inimitable, chic, Cotswold country wedding vibe. Honey coloured stone buildings? Check! Ancient orchard? Check! Rolling countryside views? Check!

The exterior of Caswell House

It manages to blend its historic roots with elegance and style, and I’ve been lucky enough to shoot many weddings here over the years. Just a stone’s throw from Brize Norton, this exclusive-use Oxfordshire barn venue is a dream come true for a wedding photographer. I’m not surprised Emily and Scott fell head over heels for the place too!

The happy couple

Emily and Scott were great fun to photograph – not to mention, incredibly stylish and cool. Scott, the groom, is in the RAF and has Italian heritage – which the couple made a nod to in some of the unique touches they put on their day.

Family is important to the couple, with Scott choosing his brother to be his Best Man. Emily had her mum on hand to help her get into her beautiful wedding dress.

There was also not a dry eye in the place when Emily’s dad first saw his daughter in her dress. I managed to capture his reaction (and Emily’s bridesmaids’) and the photos show the love and affection perfectly.

The glamorous wedding dress

Emily looked sensational in her Suzanne Neville wedding dress from The Bespoke Wardrobe bridal boutique in Ingatestone. The on-trend, deep-plunge neckline brought the glamour, while the tulle skirt, embellished belt and floor-length veil added a romantic feel to the overall look. Accessorised with a beaded headband and some excellent Jimmy Choo heels, Emily wowed everyone on the day.

Her bridesmaids looked amazing in plum maxi dresses, in mix and match styles, while Scott didn’t disappoint in a slick three-piece suit and plum tie.

Emily and Scott’s wedding day

The couple had planned for an outdoor ceremony, but unfortunately the weather wasn’t playing ball. A call was made to bring everything inside and set up in the barn, just in case the light drizzle turned into heavy rain.

I was so impressed with the Caswell House wedding venue team who seamlessly moved all the chairs inside and created the most beautiful indoor setting for the ceremony. The swags of twinkling lights and warm, honey-coloured stone created so much warmth in the photos.

Although heavy rain threatened all day, we managed to squeeze in some great outdoor family shots and couple shots before it really came down. Emily and Scott were hardcore and stuck it out – with umbrellas! – until we had no choice but to abandon the outdoor photos and run for cover.

Thankfully, after the wedding breakfast, in true British fashion, the weather was great, and we headed outside for some more couple shots.

The unique wedding day touches

I loved how Emily and Scott included so many, fun and personal touches to their big day. Emily has personalised robes and champagne flutes for all her bridal party as they got ready in the morning, which looked fantastic in the photos.

They also had a very cool wedding gin bar for guests during the champagne reception, as well as plenty of Moretti beers and gelato – a nod to Scott’s Italian roots.

One of my favourite touches was the Fiat 500, which they borrowed from Scott’s friend. With Italian tricolour ribbons tied to the wing mirrors, it seriously looked the part and provided a very fun photo opportunity after the ceremony!
