Brooke and Patrick’s Micklefield Hall wedding just a couple of months ago in April 2017 has to be one of the sunniest and brightest spring weddings I have ever photographed. The incredible light made for some of the most beautiful images stretching out over the Hertfordshire countryside.
Before the ceremony the boys met for a tipple or two in The Crown in Amersham, some of you might recognise this as the setting for some of the scenes from Four Weddings and a Funeral, a classic film that we all have a soft spot for and very fitting for their big day.
The ceremony
The ceremony took place at St Mary’s Parish Church in Amersham, Buckinhamshire, a stunning setting with a glorious painted ceiling that created some lovely shots down the aisle. After the ceremony the couple were whisked off across the border to Micklefield Hall in Hertfordshire in the coolest way possible – an Aston Martin DB5! I have to say this is one of my favourite cars, so a real treat to shoot. The Aston Martin DB5 was also joined by the best man’s Aston Martin DB9 and another guest’s Aston Martin DB7 at the reception – a car lover’s dream!
The venue
Micklefield Hall is a country house venue steeped in rambling wisteria, with the added bonus of a fully restored Tithe Barn that provided the backdrop for Brooke and Patrick’s country wedding. The beautiful views of the rolling English countryside, and the glorious cherry blossom walks created some lovely couple shots. They worked with their venue and added rustic touches with their table plan written on old glass windows and lovely English flowers.
The dress
Brooke wore a gorgeous fitted lace fishtail number by Suzanne Neville from Ellie Sanderson Bridal Boutique, whilst the groom rocked a navy suit bought for him by his late Grandma. In a lovely touch Patrick had is Grandma’s initials sewn into the collar lining of the suit, so she was close by on their special day.
As the light fell and the moon came up at this Micklefield Hall Wedding we all gathered outside for some enchanting images looking out over the rolling Herfordshire hills, before partying the night away to the band!
Testimonial from Brooke & Patrick
“Not only did David capture the most beautiful images of our day, he has made the entire process from our first meeting, through to planning our wedding album feel very special and completely stress free. We cannot recommend him enough! Brilliant!”

Cutest couple ever! Amazing photos!
Thanks for your comment Jon!
Photography is an art. An experienced one may not be able to visualize the scene if he/she is not artistic. On the other hand an artistic photographer without any experience can put a wonderful scene and can capture a beautiful moment.
Looking at this post for probably the 50th time! 🙂 These pictures never fail to make me smile – thank you so much for capturing our day so beautifully David x
Brook it was a total pleasure to document your amazing and totally beautiful wedding at the old church in Amersham and then the reception at Micklefield Hall. The 3 Aston Martins’ were a complete bonus for me! I loved every single second of shooting it, let me know when the video is done!!
