One of the very best things about being an Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer is the opportunity to photograph weddings held in the many Oxford University Colleges such as a Balliol College Wedding Oxford. As well as stunning grounds and the famous “Quads” they all have stunning chapels and are all very different but all are steeped in history and very beautiful in their own way. I was delighted to have the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Balliol College in Oxford. The Harry Potter movies have made great use of another Oxford University College, Christ Church college and it’s Great Hall is used as a double for Hogwarts School. Balliol College has a very similar dining hall and it really did feel I was in the wizards’ dining hall when I shot the images for the wedding breakfast. Amanda who wore a beautiful vintage style cappuchino lace wedding gown with matching vintage hair comb and vintage fur wrap was born in Australia and her and Dave had been over there the previous month for their actual wedding so this ceremony was a wedding blessing held by a good priest friend of their who Dave went to college with. Having shot their pre-wedding shoot there and them having been photographed by their Australian wedding photographer a few weeks before they were comfortable in front of the camera but wanted a very photojournalism style candid coverage which is my natural chosen wedding photography style and I enjoyed capturing these images of the ceremony, wedding reception and the speeches in Balliol College. Here are some of my favourites from Amanda and Dave’s day:
