What. A. Wedding! Francesca and Matt pulled out all the stops for their luxurious spring wedding at Hedsor House. The styling was next level, with opulent floral displays – that arch is something else! – and classic all-white table settings. The sun shone in Buckinghamshire for their spectacular May wedding, and it was an absolute treat to photograph this beautiful couple.
The Buckinghamshire stately home wedding venue
One word to describe Hedsor House? Breathtaking. This is one of the most stunning wedding venues in the UK and as a recommended Hedsor House wedding photographer I’ve been lucky enough to spend a lot of time at this unforgettable venue. It’s been voted Tatler and Vogue’s dream wedding venue, and from the moment you pull up the epic driveway of this elegant Buckinghamshire Georgian country home, you can see why. Fancy being Lord and Lady of the manor for your wedding day? Hedsor House is the venue for you!
The ‘getting ready’ shots
I love shooting couples getting ready the morning of their wedding. It’s such a cool way to capture the excitement and I promise these are the photos you’ll look back on and instantly be transported back to that moment. To make sure we had plenty of time to photograph both Francesca and Matt getting ready, I had a second photographer – the very talented Danielle Chambers – who handled all the shots at the groom’s house, while I was with Francesca and her bridesmaids.
Francesca’s glamorous wedding dress
When you have a venue as magnificent as Hedsor House you can go all-out with your wedding dress. Francesca looked incredible in her showstopping Dando London wedding gown, which she bought from Confetti and Lace (the bridal boutique where they film the Say Yes to the Dress TV show.
Featuring a dipped sweetheart neckline, off-the-shoulder sleeves, illusion lace bodice and the most dramatic skirt and train, this dress really brought the wow-factor. Francesca looked beautiful – just check out the reaction from her dad and bridesmaids when they saw her in her wedding dress for the first time!
The traditional church ceremony
The couple live in the charming Hertfordshire town of Rickmansworth and held their wedding ceremony at the picturesque Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in the town. With colourful stained-glass windows, high arched ceilings and traditional wooden pews, it’s a gorgeous church to shoot in and it was a joy to capture Francesca and Matt’s moving ceremony.
Once the ‘I do’s were over, we all headed outside for the iconic confetti shot. Back lit by the sun, this black and white photo of the bride and groom covered in a shower of confetti is one of my favourite shots of the day.
The wow-factor reception at Hedsor House
As their classic Rolls Royce drove up the sweeping driveway towards Hedsor House, the groom Matt couldn’t resist making a dramatic entrance by standing up and waving in the convertible!
Hedsor House is one of those venues that dazzles whatever time of year. It really did look outstandingly beautiful lit up by the spring sunshine and decorated with a statement floral arch. I love these photographs of Francesca and Matt outside Hedsor House before the party got started.
Inside the venue, tables were dressed with crisp white tablecloths, elegant white settings, delicate orchids and white blossom tree centrepieces. Surrounded by the historic backdrop of Hedsor’s period interiors, it worked perfectly with the couple’s glamorous big day vibe.
It was a glorious spring day, and the weather did not disappoint. The May sunshine meant the wedding party could enjoy Hedsor House’s extensive grounds, and Francesca had plenty of space when it came to throwing the bouquet.
In the evening the party really started, as Francesca and Matt headed to the checkerboard dancefloor for their first dance. It wasn’t long before all their guests joined in and danced the night away.
In Francesca and Matt’s words:
“David was absolutely brilliant with every piece of prep, phone call, email all the way up to each and every shot taken on the day of our wedding, thank you! The album is incredible. We would recommend him to anyone!”
