Over the years that I have been a professional wedding photographer in Oxford I have been asked several times about doing a pre-wedding shoot with a difference, usually for Chinese and Asian couples that are getting married abroad but want to capture beautiful wedding photographs in places that are special to them in the UK. Rhodes House Wedding Photography is something I alway enjoy and the chance to structure a styled photo-shoot at Rhodes House was something I jumped at.
Elaine & Stephen are both graduates from Oxford St Johns College and Rhodes House in Oxford and approached me to do a wedding styled photo-shoot in the grounds and inside both of these beautiful venues. We also staged part of a a mock-wedding ceremony in the beautiful chapel at St Johns where I have photographed several weddings before.
For the shoot Elaine was dressed in full bridal attire and perfect make-up whilst Stephen was smartly dressed in a stylish tuxedo.
Before the shoot I set up mood board using Pinterest so we could share ideas for the sort of shots the couple wanted to recreate on the day, this was really useful and I recommend it to other photographers.
Part of the tradition of many of these Asian ceremonies abroad is that the couple usually produces a full wedding style album from their pre-wedding shoot that is on display at their actual wedding in the country they choose to get married in.
Once the wedding styled shots were done we moved to Rhodes House gardens where Elaine wore a pink cocktail dress and we got some really fun shots complete with props!
The photographs have turned out beautifully and now I am looking forward to my next Chinese/Asian pre-wedding styled shoot as Oxford is the perfect backdrop to get some lovely images.
Big thanks to Lindy who was my fantastic assistant on the day.
