A scorching hot day and an effortlessly cool couple made this Chelsea Wedding one of the best I’ve shot in London! You can see Yassi & Anthony’s Chelsea Wedding photos below.
The venue
I was recommended to Yassi and Anthony after covering an Iranian wedding at the Hurlingham Club in 2015 for friends of theirs. Yassi the bride was six months pregnant at the wedding and definitely had ‘the glow’! She had always wanted to get married at the Chelsea Old Town Hall, which is completely understandable considering it’s a gorgeous venue and has been the setting for countless famed weddings from Judy Garland to Mick Jagger and various members of Duran Duran. Other celebrities that have tied the knot at this famous London landmark in the Kings Road include Patsy Kensit, actress and Jim Kerr, musician (1992), Prince Pavlos of Greece, Irving Penn, American photographer, and Lisa Fonssagrives, Swedish fashion model (1950), Tracey Thorn and Ben Watt, pop musicians (2008), Marco Pierre White, chef (1988) and Michael Winner, film director.
Anthony’s daughter, and the couples flower girl, played a big part in the day including being the ring bearer!
Yassi wore a chic knee length dress and tailored jacket, showing off her French style to the max. Whilst the groom rocked a relaxed navy suit to match their sophisticated Chelsea wedding. Yassi’s flowers were whites and greens to complement her elegant styling.
The reception
After the ceremony the entire wedding party walked down to Chelsea embankment and the reception venue the Cheney Walk Brasserie. A beautiful French restaurant that is a sister to Ronnie Scott’s and Yassi’s choice to complement her French heritage! Delicious food is almost guaranteed at a french wedding and the venue did not disappoint, cooked in front of the guests on an open grill in the middle of the dining room, luscious juicy steaks, that the Brasserie is famous for in London, were prepared. I was very pleasantly surprised that one was put aside for me as my ‘hot meal’ which was of course served rare and just melted in the mouth.
For some couple shots we just had to go for a walk along the embankment, with Chelsea bridge, London bridge and the London skyline behind Yassi and Anthony we definitely managed to capture the cool Chelsea wedding vibe.
Speeches with some rather eventful drinking games followed, I have to say I was rather pleased to be ‘on the job’ when those were taking place!
