Wedding of Ross & Alexa, Hedsor House, Buckinghamshire

I’ve been wanting to shoot a wedding at the gorgeous Hedsor House in Buckinghamshire for some time now after constantly driving past it when photographing weddings at the neighbouring Cliveden and Taplow House Hotel so I was delighted when Ross & Alexa choose me to photograph their wedding at Hedsor House on Friday 8th April this year. The house itself is stunning and sits in beautiful grounds with an amazing ceremony room with a dome glass roof and mezzanine gallery all around on the second floor. I knew this wedding was going to be something special as my lovely wife the multi-award winning Ellie Sanderson of Ellie Sandserson Bridal Boutique in Beaconsfield had supplied the gown to Alexa the bride. The wedding dress was a beautiful Sassi Holford creation called Serena, a quintessentially English fitted lace gown with a lace shruggette which added some gorgeous shoulder cover. It fitted like a glove and showed off Alexa`s amazing figure. The shoes were from the “to die for” Christian Leboutin with the trademark red scarlet soles and Alexa’s make up was done by the amazingly talented make-up artist to the stars Helena. Alexa’s eyes looked truely amazing once Helena had finished working her magic!. It was a photographers dream to photograph the preparations in the airy bridal suite which was flooded with lots of lovely diffused natual light. I had great fun with the groom Ross and his boys doing the guys shots before the ceremony in the grounds and got a lovely shot of them on a mezzanine which just begged to be treated as black & white with light from the domed roof flooding down. The whole day was perfect in terms o the weather and Ross & Alexa had the most fantastic band in the evening playing everything from Stevie Wonder to Ladt GaGa and had would you believe it Lady GaGa’s actual keyboard player!!

Hamish and his team did an absolute stirling job and it makes Hedsor House somewhere I am very much looking forward to returning to.

Ross & Alexa were kind enough to post a recommendation for me on the Guides For Brides Website today and they said:

“We really can not recommend David highly enough. Despite neither of us being particularly happy in front of the camera, he managed to make the experience not only relaxed but also highly enjoyable. The photos themselves are fantastic, better than we could have hoped for. David’s ‘reportage’ style was exactly what we were after and he did an amazing job of capturing our special day and all the people that made it so.”

Here are a selection of my favourites from the day:
