When I met Suzi and James for their pre-wedding shoot for their Elcot Park Wedding Photography at Elcot Park Hotel last Autumn, Suzi was about 7 months pregnant with her little baby girl Lexie and I had some great shots with the couple, we said our goodbyes and departed and I wished them well for the birth. Therefore it was particularly great when I arrived at the house on 16th May to shoot the bridal preparation shots that the little girl that I had only seen as a bump last time we met was smiling and rolling around on the floor after being dressed in her baby wedding finery!!
Suzi was wearing beautiful jewellery from Magpie Vintage (which I spotted a mile off as my wife’s boutique Ellie Sanderson is a major stockist of theirs) the shoes were Rainbow Couture (also available at Ellie Sanderson) and the wedding gown was by Tom Flowers.
Suzi and James got married at St Mary’s Church in the village of Shaw nr Newbury before heading off the Elcot Park Hotel in Berkshire for their wedding reception. Once again despite a terrible weather forecast the weather was kind to us and we got some lovely images. It was my first time shooting a wedding at Elcot Park Hotel but it was a lovely Berkshire wedding venue with lovely grounds with views over the Berkshire countryside. An exceptional country retreat, the Ramada Newbury Elcot Park hotel is a splendid Georgian Manor house in 16 acres of landscaped gardens within a parkland estate of outstanding natural beauty.
The eighteenth-century Mercure Newbury Elcot Park , former family home of Percy Shelly the great poet has many period features with a portrait flanked sweeping staircase and a grand fireplace dominating the lounge. With tasteful decor, this historic and picturesque Country House has been expanded to incorporate 73 bedrooms, a leisure club with spa, conference centre, wedding and banqueting suite as well as the stunning Orangery Bar and Restaurant overlooking the Kennet Valley.
One of favourite moments for me on the day was when, during the wedding vows, their little boy Maxwell was standing in the church aisle with the couple tugging at his dads trousers and looking with great interest at the lady vicar, the other was when we found a couple of lovely wrought iron chairs that I got the couple to sit on whilst the videographer Leo from Perfect Day Studios shook the tree showering the couple with white Apple Blossom. So they got not one but two confetti shots that day…
I am always very touched to get Thank You cards from my clients and many of them are kind eough to post comments about my wedding photography and how I was on the day on the Guides For Brides website and you can view all my reviews by clicking here.
Suzi & James sent me a beautiful Thank You card with the following testimonial inside:
